Vision & Values

Be the BEST you can be

Our three values guide everything we do at Renwick School — from how we learn together, to how we treat one another and our world.

Be the BEST You Can Be Be Respectful: Show with our actions and words that we care about people, places and things Be Resourceful: Build and use our kete of skills to navigate the world around us Be Resilient: Give everything a go, even when it challenges us — see it, face it, positively push through

The story behind our logo

In 2023, we asked our students, staff and whānau what mattered most to them — and the result is a logo that tells the story of Renwick School and the land we belong to.

The three maunga

Ōtāhuhu (Mount Richmond), Tapuae-o-Uenuku, and Mount Fishtail — the mountains that surround and guide our community — sit at the heart of the logo.

The Wairau Valley landscape

The open book beneath the mountains represents the Wairau Plain and connects our school to the land — its farming, recreation, and learning opportunities.

The awa — Wairau River

The river signifies life. The three waterways represent the partnership between staff, students, and whānau, while the parallel lines reflect the viticulture of our region.

The quill

The quill in the word ‘Renwick’ ties our new logo to the old — ensuring the history and stories of the past are kept alive as we move forward.

Respectful · Resilient · Resourceful

The three values that circle the logo were the most agreed-upon by our people — displaying who we are at Renwick, and what we aspire to be.

The Give It A Go Rock

Our vision is reinforced throughout the school through class awards, values awards, and our Supreme Award — the Give It A Go Kid Rock. Presented fortnightly to a student who truly lives our values, the rock originated from the local Wairau River and depicts the unique Renwick environment. It represents the many twists and turns in the pathways of learning and life.
