Hero
Hero (Linc-ed) is the platform all Year 3–8 students use to access their learning goals, comment on their progress, and upload evidence of their learning. Students’ online learning journals let them post, reflect, and showcase their work to their wider whānau.
Hero is also our main communication tool for whānau. We use it to share newsletters, urgent notices, and class updates, and to report on student learning.
You can also use Hero to:
- Advise us of absentees
- Pay money owing to the school
Download the app to get started — it’s free and easy to set up.
BYOD
Devices are a vital tool for supporting students’ learning and preparing them as digital citizens. At Renwick School we have a BYOD expectation in the senior school — all Year 5–8 students need to bring their own charged device each day.
We recommend a Chromebook or laptop — tablets are not compatible with the Google Suite tools each student uses. Devices are used throughout the day across literacy, mathematics, and the integrated inquiry and project-based learning that students undertake both collaboratively and independently.
Junior classes have a selection of class Chromebooks and iPads to support their digital learning.
A BYOD parent agreement must be signed before a device may be used at school.
